Projects

Radio astronomy research at the University of Calgary involves the study of stellar, interstellar, and extragalactic radio emission. Current major projects include:

• The Canadian Galactic Plane Survey (CGPS)
• The VLA Galactic Plane Survey (VGPS)
• The Galactic Arecibo L-band Feed Array Continuum Transit Survey (GALFACTS)
• The Square Kilometer Array (SKA): A Next Generation World Radio Telescope
• Karma Astronomical Visualization Software

We maintain a close relationship with the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory, located within a day's drive in the mountains of British Columbia. Students and staff also make frequent use of a variety of other observatories around the world, many of which are listed on our links page.
